Hello all, I am sharing a link of a free course on SBC as I believe that social and behavioral change communication is one of the effective strategies to transform gender norms and combat harmful practices that lead to gender-based violence.

Introduction of the Course by Breakthrough Action: This online course was developed by Breakthrough ACTION and adapted from the in-person and virtual Social Norms Training Curriculum developed by the Passages Project. Part 1 offers an overview of social and gender norms and an introduction to using norms assessments for designing social and behavior change programs. The course uses animations and real-life case examples to illustrate the application of this work in different contexts. Part 2, which will be available in 2024, covers the design of norms-shifting interventions and the measurement of these approaches.
Thanks for sharing.
Traditional gender norms give men more access to power, wealth, and authority, resulting in poorer physical and mental health outcomes for both men and women. 1 Social and behavior change (SBC) interventions can be highly effective in transforming harmful gender norms to reduce gender health disparities and promote gender equality
Thank you for sharing this course! I agree that SBC is critical to ending GBV and am looking forward to learning more in both parts of the course.
I have found the Passages Projects resource to be very helpful!
Dear Noshaba, Thank you for sharing the link to the course on SBC. This is very useful. There is also a free course on Coursera on Social Norms and Social Change that was developed by Christina Bicchieri and UNICEF, which may be of interest to some of you. https://www.coursera.org/learn/norms
Many greetings, Laura
Thanks for the valuable resource.
SBC is essential to bring a change in human behaviour and attitude. social and gender norms can be shifted or influenced using SBCC approaches. Happy to share some of our animation videos of promoting mothers to support their daughters to address early marriage and thus delay marriages of adolescent girls. Umang – PCI India
