To start with, Gender-based violence (GBV) generally refers to any harmful threat or act directed at an individual or group based on actual or perceived sex, gender, gender identity, sex characteristics, or sexual orientation. It encompasses, physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, economic, and technological abuse or harm; threats of such acts; harassment; coercion; and arbitrary deprivation of liberty. Based on the perpetrator, GBV can be intimate partner violence or Non-intimate partner violence . GBV is rooted in historical and ongoing structural inequalities, the abuse of power, and harmful norms and practices, as well as situational power imbalances
